The Starting Line: And it all comes down to this…
The last Starting Line of 2024 and everything is on the line for Racing Louisville

It’s the final weekend of the regular season (and since the league gave up an exciting decision day for a larger television footprint) Racing Louisville will know if they have a shot and what they need to do to make the playoffs when they play the last game of the season Sunday evening.
So here’s a breakdown of the rest of the league’s games, and which ones as a Racing fan you should keep an eye on.
Friday November 1st
Match: Gotham FC at Utah Royals 9:30 PM
Utah is eliminated. Gotham is still playing for a better seed. Blah blah blah. This isn’t the game to watch this night.
Match: Angel City FC at Portland Thorns 10 PM
THIS IS THE GAME TO WATCH ON FRIDAY.
Portland had a chance to clinch a playoff spot last week, but due to a wonderful Taylor Flint header in the closing minutes, they still need to do work here. AND WE ARE NEEDING THEM TO FAIL. A win or a draw by Portland will clinch a playoff spot for them, but an Angel City win will give Racing a shot to overtake the Thorns.
And the bigger the win the better. Portland currently has a three-goal edge on goal differential on Racing.
Saturday, November 2nd
Match: Seattle Reign at Orlando Pride 5 PM
Nope, not this game.
Match: Washington Spirit at North Carolina Courage 7:30 PM
Nope, not this game either.
Match: Bay FC at Houston Dash 9:30 PM
YES THIS GAME!
Like Portland, Bay FC is the other team we can steal a playoff spot from. They are visiting the worst team in the league, but Houston has shown signs of life the past couple of games, getting a win against Chicago and being competitive in a loss to Seattle. BayFC lost their previous match at home against Houston 3-2 and have also lost 6 of their 12 previous road games this season. BayFC needs a win or a draw to clinch a playoff spot. A BayFC loss and Racing can overtake them with a win on Sunday.
Sunday, November 3rd
Match: Kansas City Current @ Chicago Red Stars 3:00 PM
Either we don’t care about this game because neither Bay nor Portland lost and as a soccer fandom we are down bad again in 9th place OR we don’t care about this game because we are all breathing into paper bags and trying to keep our collective s—t together before Racing @ SanDiego kicks off at 5:30 PM.
