Endings are hard. So here’s to new beginnings.
Back in early 2021, Racing Louisville was a new team, full of unlimited potential and I was just a fan interested in supporting the team and connecting with the wider fanbase.
Somewhat unexpectedly, I was given the chance to take over covering the team on The Beautiful Game Network from Benton Newman who wanted to focus more on his Louisville City site Vamos Marados. I balked at first, but Benton encouraged me and in that time since I’ve had an incredible journey that’s seen me write for national publications like The Equalizer and All For XI as well as start hosting Butchertown Rundown, the first Racing Louisville podcast.
Throughout it all, however, I never stopped writing recaps and features for The Beautiful Game Network. Now, unfortunately, The Beautiful Game Network as come to an end and by the end of May, the site will shutdown.
As sad as I am that the one consistent place I’ve written for the past three years will be gone overnight, this opens up an exciting new opportunity.
Butchertown Rundown Reimagined
When Tom Benson and I started the Butchertown Rundown podcast in 2022, it was a way to get people talking about our favorite club and have fun doing it. We had such a blast interviewing players and building connections with fans across the country that we added Kaitlyn Whiteside who has helped take the pod to new heights with her sharp insights and even sharper taste in music. In 2024, we even became the official podcast of the Lavender Legion, Racing’s biggest supporter’s group.
Through it all, we’ve always asked, what else can we do? How can we continue to engage the fanbase and get them excited about our beloved club? In light of the loss of The Beautiful Game Network, we said why not start a substack? Recaps and features can now be posted on our own terms plus we’ll have the ability to do polls, special episodes, host guest writers, and so much more. The podcast itself will stay just the same as you remember it and still be found on Apple and Spotify, but now we can have more of a community than we’ve had before on our very own site.
This is the very beginning of creating that community and we hope you’ll hit the “subscribe now” button below and join us.
As a subscriber, you’ll be guaranteed to get:
Recaps and analyses of games
Exclusive interviews with players and staff
Updates on every new podcast
Special posts from guest contributors
And beyond that, the options are limitless! Who knows where this could take us?
We already have some exciting stuff planned so if you want to be the first to get access to some pretty cool Racing Louisville access, you won’t want to miss out!
Yessss!!! Glad you write again, my friend!!! I’m here for it!!! 🙌🏾💜
